Meet Dr. Shai Shoshani
Dr. Shoshani grew up both in Bergen County and Israel, and throughout his life he was always involved in a wide variety of sports (baseball, basketball, judo, taekwondo, archery, skiing, snowboarding, tennis, and kayaking to name a few). At age 13, he participated in the European Little League Championship with the Israeli National Team in baseball and then played college baseball while attending school in Los Angeles, California. As a high level athlete, struggling to play day-by-day through injuries and body fatigue, he relates to and treats other athletes with compassion and sympathy. He graduated Summa Cum Lauda majoring in Bioethics from the University of Judaism. While in Los Angeles, he familiarized himself with the field of Sports Medicine as he participated in research at the prestigious Kerlan and Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.
He then pursued his medical education at the American University of the Caribbean in Saint Maarten. After graduating medical school in 2010, he joined the Family Medicine residency program at Hoboken University Medical Center. During his three years of residency, he continued to pursue sports medicine as he conducted research in the field and provided medical services for the Hoboken High School varsity football team. Dr. Shoshani had also served on the NYC Marathon medical team. After completing residency in 2013, he moved to Houston, Texas where he completed a Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at the Houston Methodist Hospital under the guidance of Dr. Scott Rand. During fellowship he cared for and treated athletes from several high schools, Rice University (NCAA division I), Houston Dynamo (MLS), Houston Rodeo and many other venues.
Once he graduated from his fellowship, he returned to northern NJ and joined North Eastern Orthopedics out of Jersey City where he cared for multiple local high schools throughout Hudson County. After settling down in Bergen County, he joined Englewood Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery where he continued his path in the sports medicine world. In October 2017, he established Elite Sports Medicine and Wellness in Cresskill, NJ where he presently continues to provide exquisite care to the local population. Dr. Shoshani takes pride in his commitment to his patients and to the art of medicine. He is a compassionate, patient and caring physician...and he hopes to continue and provide this excellent service in order to enable people like you to live a healthier and therefore happier life!
